This week’s Friday Finds features Khan Academy, a FREE online learning center that has recently partnered with Pixar Animation Studios for an exciting new collaboration.
Khan Academy is an online learning center that offers FREE educational tools to homeschoolers or anyone who wants to boost their kids’ educational experience. They provide practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that allows students to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. Subjects cover math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. They have partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, MIT, and most recently Pixar Animation Studios to offer specialized content.With this new partnership, Khan Academy explores the academic concepts behind Pixar Animation Studios’ processes. Subject material includes environment and character modeling, animation, crowd building, sets and staging, and rendering. Students learn about each step of computer animated movie making, from concept to big screen and everything in between.
